Daniel J. Yoo, MD, FRCS(C)
Daniel J. Yoo, MD, FRCS(C), grew up in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. During his training, Dr.Yoo was given numerous awards as he attended medical school and did residency training in orthopedic surgery at the prestigious University of Toronto.
Dr.Yoo subsequently did his fellowship training at the world-renowned Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas, where he obtained additional training in shoulder and knee surgery, and minimally invasive procedures. During his fellowship, Dr.Yoo assisted in the care of the Colorado Rockies and treated numerous other professional athletes.
Dr.Yoo has published in many international journals including the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, the Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma and the Journal of Trauma. He has presented original research in rotator cuff surgery and shoulder separations at international meetings such as the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Shoulder and Elbow Society, and the Orthopedic Trauma Association. He has published award winning research articles in fracture care especially in the polytrauma setting.
Dr.Yoo currently has numerous ongoing research in shoulder and knee care including : shoulder instability and labral tears, pathologic and MRI assessment of biceps tendonitis, fixation methods for knee ligamentous tears including ACL tears.
Dr.Yoo has the unique combination of being a gifted clinician and a leading researcher and innovator in his field, having developed and filed two Patent Pending devices for optimizing arthroscopic rotator cuff repair with the United States Patent and Trade Office.
Dr.Yoo is delighted to be reunited with family here in the northern New Jersey area. Having grown up in Toronto, Canada, both older sisters and his parents have relocated to the northern New Jersey and NYC region. Dr.Yoo enjoys the fine cuisine of all different nationalities, with longtime friends with ethnicities from every part of the world. He enjoys the arts and music scene in NYC as well as the outdoors and active life of western New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Dr.Yoo regularly plays tennis and goes running; his golf game is not the greatest but hopes to improve with new friends and colleagues here in the northern New Jersey area.
